Introduction and Orientation to Foundations of Polyvagal Informed Practice Training Series

In this live-online session, we'll begin the paradigm shift to looking through the lens of the nervous system and embody the practices. You'll learn how the structure of the training supports the dual focus of getting to know your own nervous system and bringing a polyvagal approach to clinical/professional work. You'll meet the training and consulting team and all the members of the cohort, as well as spend time with your polyvagal partner, small consultation group, and your group of 12.

Module 1 - Getting to Know the Nervous System

In this live-online session, the framework of the hierarchy will be used to look at the relationship between states and explore the essential need for ventral vagal oversight in the system. Module 1 materials will be the entry point into the process of befriending your own nervous system.

In this live online session, you'll discuss the moments of rupture that inevitably happen in clinical/professional work and the process of autonomic repair. You'll explore a variety of ways to return to and anchor in regulation.

Module 4 - Navigating the Hierarchy

In this live online session, the focus will be on the relationship between states and the ways the system is shaped by moving down and up the hierarchy. We will explore a variety of ways to travel between states and increase autonomic flexibility.

Meet Your Senior Trainers

Senior Trainer Courtney Rolfe, LCPC

Courtney Rolfe, LCPC, is a licensed psychotherapist, speaker, and trainer passionate about bringing Polyvagal Theory to clinicians and wellness professionals across the globe. A leading expert in the Polyvagal Theory, and long standing senior trainer in Deb Dana’s Foundations of Polyvagal Practice course, Courtney’s passion lies in supporting and teaching clinicians, helping individuals and communities heal, and in living the model of navigating the world with a regulated nervous system. Courtney maintains a private practice based in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to being a speaker and trainer, Courtney is co-author of Polyvagal Prompts (Norton, February 2024), co-authored with Deb Dana. Courtney offers individual and group consultation for helping professionals, supporting healers and helpers bring the wisdom of the nervous system into their work. Senior Trainer Manal Aldabbagh

Manal Aldabbagh is an embodiment coach and movement facilitator, currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Creative Health at UCL. With over ten years of experience, she has facilitated dance and movement for well-being in various countries including Saudi Arabia, USA, South Korea, and UAE. Currently, she works at Tawazon Center in Jeddah as a Nervous System educator and parenting coach. Manal is also a co-founder of the embodiment in Arabic conference and the creator and host of two podcasts: Start the Conversation podcast in Arabic and The Human Connection podcast in English. She is an advocate for mental health, well-being, and sustainability. Manal was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and currently resides in London, UK.

Consultant Janey Cutting, MA

Janey works from her busy private practice in the heart of the South Downs, West Sussex. She has an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, and trained to work therapeutically with many art forms alongside in-depth psychological theory. She has a particular passion for music, and worked for many years in the areas of learning disability, early years education, and as a teacher, performer, and composer. She has a BA in Jazz. Mindfulness and breath work have been supportive throughout her life, and are increasingly integrated into her sessions with clients. The Polyvagal Theory has been informing Janey’s work over the past 4 years, and she continues to be inspired by 'the science of safety and connection.’ She is a provider of The Safe & Sound Protocol.

About Deb

Founder & Developer Deb Dana, LCSW

Deb Dana, LCSW, is a clinician, consultant, author and speaker specializing in complex trauma. Her work is focused on using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma and in creating ways of working that honor the role of the autonomic nervous system. Deb’s work shows how an understanding of PVT is applicable across the board to relationships, mental health, and trauma. She delves into the intricacies of how an understanding and befriending of our nervous systems can change the ways we navigate our daily lives. Deb’s translation of PVT into a language that is both clear and accessible and her significant contribution, pioneering methods, tools, techniques and practices continue to help professionals and curious people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.
